Focus on: Theories of Spectatorship

In FMMC 358, Theories of Spectatorship, students embark on local history research projects, and sometimes turn them into creative work. For example, one group of students recreated the Middlebury Movie Queen film venture. Here’s their prezi about the original Middlebury Movie Queen locally made film (and traveling film production company). And here’s my students’ recreation, using the 8MM app:

Students also conduct oral histories and explore their present local media culture, as in the following two films by production partners Denisse and Ben:
